building trails, connecting communities

The Forest Trails Alliance is a community of trail advocates and recreationalists. The organization is based partially in the region south of Downieville called the Pliocene Ridge. Snuggled high in the ridge top at the headwaters of the Oregon Creek Water Shed is a small historic town called Forest City. In its day a prosperous mining town, the region is laced with old trails and ditches, many of which have been converted to excellent single track.

Although we love to recreate, our passion for building trails has brought together many talented and creative people. This group continues to excel in the art of trail building. Acquisition of trail equipment and machines and the development of dynamic riding features have provided a unique and fun environment to participate in. It is our belief that trail building is a talent, not a crime, and our commitment is to work with the county and USFS to provide opportunities for dirt busters to ply their trade and receive the acknowledgement they deserve.

The most important part of our organization though is its members. It is the heart of our organization. It is the taste of mutual triumph, the warm glow of a shared campfire or the thrill of adventure that knits our community together. Beyond the quibbles of personal life the shared dreams and inspirations bring all types together to create and contribute.

If you like what you have heard, please consider joining FTA. The good news is that it is FREE! The purpose of this level of membership is to provide both an entry level for new people but also a minimal way for you to support our efforts. By joining, you are saying to the USFS and other agencies we work with that this is a good thing. Thanks for your interest. Hope to see you on the trail. There is more information on memberships on the membership page and don't forget to check out the photo gallery.
