The Forest Trails Alliance is a community of trail advocates and recreationalists. Our vision is by involving community members in the creative act of designing and building trails, we will create higher level of appreciation and stewardship of our trails. In addition, by focusing on education and investment of equipment and resources we can develop trails that are sustainable, stylistic and built for a fraction of the cost. Trails receive little attention from agencies and governmental institutions compared to other infrastructure, the trails that are rarely generated often are impersonal and bland. By empowering people with skills and initiative we can generate an inspiring network of recreational trails. The most important part of our organization though is its members. It is the heart of our organization. It is the taste of mutual triumph, the warm glow of a shared campfire or the thrill of adventure that knits our community together. Beyond the quibbles of personal life the shared dreams and inspirations bring all types together to create and contribute. Our organization focus’s on creating fertile ground for creative and motivated people. Participation is your most valuable contribution (and $ as well!) and we acknowledge active participation by higher levels of opportunities and influence.
If you like what you have heard, please consider joining FTA. The good news is that it is FREE! The purpose of this level of membership is to provide both an entry level for new people but also a minimal way for you to support our efforts. By joining, you are saying to the USFS and other agencies we work with that this is a good thing. Your next step will be to find an effort or project that inspires you and sign up to volunteer. 10 hours of service makes you a tenured member with access to special events, project teams, special skill training and more. Members who contribute 100 hours or more are nominated for our leadership group which is the steering group for our organization. Thanks for your interest. Hope to see you on the trail. There is more information on memberships on the membership page and don't forget to check out the photo gallery.
